Childhood Memories

Buffalos at seven.

When I was a kid I use to draw and draw and draw and draw. My older Brother Scott taught me some good techniques for animals, Jared taught me people’s faces and I also got really into cartoons for a while. The Buffalo pictured above was drawn at Age 7- notice the charcoal shading on the beast’s underbelly, the lush green forest of trees and the limp black tail dangling in the breeze. Attention to detail was my middle name & I went by “Garett.S.” back in the day, as my signature denotes.

Last story: My parents once paid Scott $500 to NOT watch television for 1 whole year (he was in High School). He took them up on their challenge and he spent the whole year in his room drawing. He cranked out some true masterpieces that year that make my buffalo drawing look like a teddy bear.
