The story of db clay

My Pinkies are Numb.

Blades
August 19 marks the 3rd anniversary of when we first launched db clay dot com. Ah, and believe you me, it has been a torrential three years. To celebrate, or at least to commemorate today’s significance, I wanted to share three things…

1. Me man Mr. Diggles just returned from two weeks abroad in Belgium. He brought me home a gift, a rusty blade, a token of his friendship. Indeed, we have a special bond over sharp metal.
2. As I mentioned yesterday, I will be hand-making wallets this week in preparation for the Bumbershoot Festival. However, I am a bit concerned. You see, in the last 6 months, I have noticed my pinkies are starting to go numb. I chatted with my Aunt about it over the weekend, and I think it might mean the early signs of carpal tunnel (she had it too along with my sister). When db clay was just beginning, I made wallets at a rate of about 60-80 hours a week for about five years and I think it is finally catching up to me. My hands and wrists and fingers definitely got a work out… but, before I panic, and before I misdiagnose myself, I will go a see a doctor. I will keep you posted.
3. On a separate but related note, the blade pictured above is the same type of blade used in the movie Sweeney Todd. Johnny, Mr. Burton, Helena… if you are out there, and you read this, I invite you (or your publicist) to contact me and I will get you a free wallet or three. I am a big fan of all three of you.
