Pecha Kucha, Volume 2

Me Monday evening was spent listening to a cross section of individuals speak their specialized minds at a Pecha Kucha event I attended at the Imago Ballroom in East Portland. The theme of the presentations I witnessed last night was “Layer: hidden and apparent constructs.” Each of the twenty speakers presenting was given five minutes to break down their chosen topic- topics which varied from mid century furniture design, to prefab home construction, to even a burlesque dancing photographer who spoke about her method for being her own paparazzi. She takes pictures of herself holding knives. I learned a lot in two hours about people, architecture, rare rain forest woods, east coast art dealers, life, etc. I look forward to the Volume 3 event, coming in May. This educational Monday night was hosted by cityscope.

Me claim to be a bit of a designer myself. When I was just a wee little lad, I touted myself as the elite automotive engineer of my generation. I drew cars, homes, etc. Pictured here is a mountaineering sports car concept I drew up back in the day. Unfortunately, this car never made it into production.
