myDuctbills Kit User Submissions.

Our myDuctbills Kit comes with everything you’ll need to build your very own Duct Tape Wallet. The Kit includes pre-cut Duct Tape pieces and also a super detailed instructional booklet that teaches you how to put all the pieces together and build your own wallet. The last page of the booklet congratulates you on your newly crafted silver lined wallet (assuming you were able to follow the instructions!!!), and then, it also encourages you to send us a photo of the wallet you made using our Kit. Below are few submissions we’ve received in recent months… My favorite is the rainbow panther on top.

WANT TO TRY IT?

YOU CAN FIND OUR KIT IN 80 URBAN OUTFITTERS STORES THIS HOLIDAY SEASON (coming in late November)!

Stolen Picasso Painting.

Picasso
About (7) years ago, I got a wild hair to experiment with a new medium, and I recreated one of Picasso’s famous works (titled Three Musicians) using multicolored rolls of Duct Tape and several X-acto blades. Duct Tape art if you will. Image above was my attempt, though not exactly a match… but close enough I suppose. Years later, I met Mona Superhero and I discovered she was a pretty darn good Duct Tape artist as well. Matter of fact, much better than me. Check out her work here.

The Very First Order Form.

Duct Tape Wallet Order Form
Yesterday, I was giving an interview, and I was being asked several questions regarding how this whole wallet project began in the first place. The quick answer is…I don’t know. However, it definitely caused me to think back, reflect, and dig up some old bodies and memories relating to my hand made wallet making days of yore. Come to think of it, I could probably write an entire book, but, for your sake and mine, I will spare the gory details as they are many and scattered and lost.

I wanted to thank Mr. Diggles‘ cousin Gerren for spearheading this first “Ductbills” Order form with me. At the time, we were all living in a dumpy rental house in Canby, Oregon. Gerren and I sat in the basement, booted up his computer, and put together the order form pictured above. We printed out a couple dozen copies and took them into the restaurant where we worked together. Immediately, people started ordering them by the handful, and so, it all began.

Discovering this order form in my archives brought a big grin to my face. We thought we were so cool. I love all the one liners, and the names we gave to the colors. For god’s sake, we couldn’t just say “red”…no, we had to call it INFERNO! Comedy. I pretty much chalk this entire order form up to naivety, youth filled ambition, creative enthusiasm, and simply, a learning experience. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into…but I suppose, my friends, that is indeed the best part.

To celebrate our punk filled roots, and to keep our hand made wallet dream alive, we designed a Kit that allows you, and everyone you know, to make your own wallet. Cheers to memories and growing up.

Some Kid in Nevada County…

Duct Tape Wallet Kit
Made this wallet using our myDuctbills Kit. It is a wild thought to think about some random kid, in some random county, making some random wallet, with some random Kit (invented by some random guy), that he purchased at some random store. I love when people send us photos of their creations…it nearly brings a tear to my eye. Buy a kit, make your own wallet, and email us a photo: itsmine@myDuctbills.com By the way Junior, 2nd place ain’t bad.

Great Advice for Garett.

Duct Tape Wallets
Me was walking around and wandering me ghostly neighborhood a few days back. Early in the morn, I saw the headline (pictured above) and thought to myself, “Garett, that was the best decision you ever made my friend.” The decision being giving up my hand made wallet making…it was souring my brain, it became an obsession, it was consuming over a hundred hours a week, but I couldn’t stop. Though, it was never about Duct Tape. It was about making something the best it can be. It was about succeeding. It was about stubbornness. It was about paying for college.

Flashing forward, the decision I made to stop making wallets personally was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my twenties…but rather than let the product die, I decided to pass on my secrets in the form of a Do-it-Yourself Duct Tape Wallet Kit…now you can make your own!!!

I am done. It is time for you to begin.

Set the table with wallets.

Duct Tape Wallet
Me recently found this nostalgic image in my archives- photo pictured here was taken in my old Canby, Oregon wallet making workshop…Back in 2002 or so. I used to make stacks and stacks of wallets. I used to make hundreds at a time. I used to spend hours and hours folding and cutting colored Tape. These days, I no longer make these Duct Tape beauties, instead, I packaged up my creative secrets and now offer them in kit form. My attitude these days… make your own wallet!

Have fun.
